The Western Australian Government committed $30 million to the State NRM Program for 2009/10 in the State budget announced on 14 May 2009. The funding is to address NRM priorities endorsed by the WA NRM Ministerial Council including:
- Biodiversity conservation
- Biosecurity
- Water Quality
- NRM interaction with planning
- Climate change adaptation
- Community engagement
Projects approved to-date
Community Grants
The State Government has allocated $5 million for a community grants component of the State NRM Program. Eligible non-government groups can apply for grants of between $5,000 and $250,000 to take action to help protect and conserve priority assets in Western Australia.
Eligible groups include regional, sub-regional, catchment and community groups; and industry groups and local governments. Groups must be Incorporated or be able to use an Incorporated Association or equivalent for all financial management.
Government Agencies and individuals are ineligible.
Eligible projects must address at least one of the Government’s NRM priorities of biodiversity, biosecurity, water quality, NRM Interaction with planning; climate change adaptation or community engagement. (For specific details see the guidelines and be able to be completed by 30 June 2011.
