Joint Steering Committee

The Joint Steering Committee is the peak body in Western Australia that provides recommendations to WA and Federal ministers on National Action Plan and Natural Heritage Trust issues. 

The JSC also manages funding arrangements, in line with the Bilateral Agreement between the WA and Federal Governments relating to the Natural Heritage Trust and the National Action Plan.

The Bilateral Agreement includes the accreditation of regional NRM strategies and recommendation of funding approvals for Investment Plans.

The Joint Steering Committee consists of WA and Australian Government representatives and three community representatives. They are:

State Investment Committee

The State Investment Committee provides advice to the State NRM Council and the JSC on planning processes and the content of regional plans and investment proposals.
It also ensures investment proposals are consistent with WA/Commonwealth objectives for the NAP and NHT, and the State Salinity Investment Framework. And, based on the content of regional plans and investment proposals, it also advises on the optimal distribution of funds among the regions.

CONRACE

The Council of Natural Resource Agencies Chief Executives assumes collective responsibility for developing and serving the State's NRM framework and planning needs under the direction of the Ministerial NRM Committee.

CONRACE is composed of the Chief Executive of the following state government bodies:

Department of Agriculture and Food WA (DAFWA)
Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC)
Department of Water (DoW)
Department of Planning and Infrastructure DPI)
Department of Fisheries
Forest Products Commission (FPC)

The Director General of the Department of Agriculture and Food WA is the Chair of CONRACE


 

Senior Officers Group

The Senior Officers Group consists of the Executive Directors (or equivalent) from the WA agencies involved in NRM activities. (See also ‘Government agencies’)
The SOG provides inter-departmental leadership on NRM issues and helps coordinate NRM issues that involve several departments and regional delivery issues across WA.
The group also develops inter-departmental strategic policy on issues relating to NRM and provides advice to Chief Executives/Government.
