The WA Government is committed to Natural Resource Management, spending more than $240 million a year on NRM-related activities.

Seven State government agencies are jointly involved in NRM in WA, with activities coordinated by the Council of Natural Resource Agencies Chief Executives. The seven agencies are:

Department of Agriculture and Food
The Department of Agriculture and Food assists the State's agriculture, food and fibre sectors to be sustainable and profitable, with a clear focus on export-led growth.

The Department also aims to enhance the international competitiveness of the State's agribusiness by working with various sectors to meet the increasingly demanding standards for safety and quality of food and fibre products produced in an environmentally sustainable way.

Department of Environment and Conservation
The Department of Environment and Conservation was formed on 1 July 2006 from the amalgamation of the Department of Environment and the Department of Conservation and Land Management.

The new department combines the functions of the two agencies and provides leadership on key environmental and conservation issues in Western Australia, including the protection, conservation, sustainable use and enjoyment of our natural environment..
